Luczak, Runyan promoted at Comedy Central

Longtime publicists raised to VP status by Viacom cabler

Comedy Central has given VP stripes to publicists Renata Luczak and Jenni Runyan.

Luczak, who has been at the cabler since 1997, is based in Gotham and handles “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart,” “The Colbert Report” and “Tosh.0.”

In her new position, she will take on the additional responsibility of oversight for the communications strategies for the net’s recently announced Enterprises division, which focuses on consumer products, home video, CDs and digital downloads, publishing and live touring.

Santa Monica-based Runyan is an 11-year Comedy Central vet and handles trade press as well as publicity for the net’s West Coast productions, including “South Park” and new series “Workaholics.” She arrived at the Viacom cabler after turns at Turner and HBO.

“Renata and Jenni are incredibly innovative and extremely inspired communications strategists,” said PR topper Steve Albani, to whom they report. “Their knowledge and expertise of the industry and trends in communications have been instrumental in making the group one of the most effective and inventive PR teams in the industry.”
