Google has added LG as the latest hardware maker to build Google TVs.

Announcement comes days before Google heads to the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

LG becomes the fourth major TV manufacturer to build Google TVs after Sony, Samsung and Vizio.

Additionally, Marvell and MediaTek will provide chips for new Google TV devices, which will enable Google to distrib new products at various pricepoints.

Sony is expected to show off new Google TV products at CES during its press conference on Monday. Samsung’s first Google TV products will bow later this year.

Google is looking to use CES as a major promo push for Google TV, whose interface was redesigned in October to offer more YouTube- and Android Market-like functionality. Service now has more than 150 apps which developers have specifically built for Google TV.

LG will showcase its new Google TV sets running its L9 chipset Monday morning.

The news was posted on Google TV’s official blog by Mickey Kim, head of Google TV Partnerships.
