The 10th season of the World Poker Tour is set to debut Feb. 12 on Fox Sports Net.
For the new season, FSN will bump up each tournament from two to three episodes. Including a preview show to start the season, the tour will run 37 weeks and cover 12 tournaments.
FSN will air two WPT programs each week — an original telecast Sunday and a repeat on Wednesday in most areas of the country.
Among the top tournaments stops for the new season are Legends of Poker, Bellagio 5 Diamond World Poker Classic and the WPT Venice Grand Prix.
Following the explosion of ESPN’s “World Series of Poker” in 2003 — amateur Chris Moneymaker won $2.5 million — poker has become a programming staple for several cablers as well as NBC, which ran “Poker After Dark” for four years. In addition, CBS began its Epic Poker League last year, founded by poker pro Annie Duke.
The FSN poker telecasts will continue to be hosted by Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten, who have been behind the mike since the first season.
