‘Elementary,’ ‘Vegas’ sold to Sky TV

Stateside CBS series now have U.K. home

U.K. satcaster BSkyB has acquired new CBS Studios Intl.-distributed series “Vegas” and “Elementary.”

Both skeins will air on CBS Stateside in the fall: “Vegas” on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. and “Elementary” on Thursdays at the same time.

“Vegas,” which stars Michael Chiklis as a casino mobster and Dennis Quaid as an old-school sheriff in a burgeoning Las Vegas of the 1960s, is exec produced by Greg Walker, Nicholas Pileggi, Arthur Sarkissian, Cathy Konrad and James Mangold.

The show will premiere on the Sky Atlantic HD channel. No debut date has been set.

“Elementary,” with Jonny Lee Walker and Lucy Liu, is an updated American take on Sherlock Holmes and his partner, Watson. In this show, the two solve crimes in Manhattan. Robert Doherty, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Michael Cuesta are exec producers.

Series will premiere on Sky Living HD channel in the fall.

Both these pickups represent the first shows sold by CBS Studios Intl. following the May L.A. Screenings, where global buyers come to Hollywood to see the shows that are set for fall and midseason debuts.
