Eilenberg hired to run TBS/TNT reality division

Exec arrives at Turner nets from Mark Burnett Prods.

David Eilenberg is now topper of TNT and TBS’ reality division.

In the newly created position of senior VP of unscripted development, Eilenberg will mine for programs that help round out each of the cablers’ schedules. President Michael Wright, to whom Eilenberg will report, has made reality an important programming component going forward.

Eilenberg, who will be based in Los Angeles, comes to Turner from Mark Burnett Prods., where he was head of development and current programming. Among the series he helped develop at the shingle were NBC’s “The Voice” and “The Apprentice,” as well as “Are you Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” for Fox and syndication.

“David has been instrumental in the success of some of television’s biggest reality hits,” said Wright. “His taste and relationships within the talent community are both first rate and will be vital to our efforts to grow this new aspect of our business.”

TNT recently debuted reality skein “The Great Escape,” which launched June 24 to 1.6 million viewers.
