Disney Channel has ordered live-action comedy series “Dog With a Blog,” a family sitcom from the pet’s point of view.
The cast includes G Hannelius, Blake Michael, Francesca Capaldi, Beth Littleford, Regan Burns and, as the voice of talking and blogging Stan the Dog, Stephen Full. The dog itself will be played by Kuma, a 4-year-old mixed breed rescued from a shelter and trained by Guin Dill and Steve Solomon of Good Dog Animals.
In “Dog,” Stan is purchased by parents of a merged family to encourage the step-siblings to get along — then turns out to have much more ability than the average canine.
Production on the multicamera laffer will begin in June, with a fall premiere targeted in the U.S. and soon thereafter on Disney Channel’s worldwide network.
Michael B. Kaplan (“Frasier,” “I’m in the Band”) created and is exec producing “Dog,” with the pilot directed by Neal Israel.
