Demian Bichir joins FX’s ‘Bridge’

Gish, Levine also join Kruger in pilot from Shine America

Demian Bichir, Annabeth Gish and Ted Levine have been cast in FX drama pilot “The Bridge.”

Skein, an adaptation of Swedish series “i Bron,” is being exec produced by writers Meredith Stiehm (“Cold Case”) and Elwood Reid (“Hawaii Five-0”) along with Carolyn Bernstein, Lars Blomgren and Jane Featherstone for Shine America and FX Prods.

“The Bridge” centers on a U.S. go-her-own-way detective (the previously cast Diane Kruger) and a Mexican homicide investigator and family man (Bechir) who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the American-Mexican border.

Bichir (“Weeds”) was nominated for lead actor honors at the most recent Oscars for his performance in Chris Weitz’s “A Better Life.”

Gish (“Brotherhood”) will play a suddenly widowed rancher who must face a new dark reality, while Levine (“Monk”) plays the weathered, lieutenant boss of Kruger’s character.

Shooting is set to begin in November on the pilot, with Gerardo Naranjo (“Miss Bala”) directing.

FX’s upcoming drama projects also include “The Americans” with Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys and “The Strain” from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse.
