CBS is sticking to its usual fall launch strategy, announcing 2012-13 start dates Wednesday that cluster nearly all of its new and returning series during the traditional premiere week.
Only “Survivor” will launch outside of the Sept. 24-30 stretch that will otherwise be entirely filled with season premieres on CBS. The 25th cycle of the Eye’s unscripted warhorse, set in the Phillippines, will bow a week earlier, on Sept. 19, as is typical for the franchise.
CBS is taking a different tack than the other broadcasters who have announced their skeds so far, with NBC, Fox and the CW concentrating much of their new schedules to the weeks before and after premiere week to avoid the crush of new programming. Only ABC has yet to unveil its fall premiere dates.
CBS has only four new series premieres on its fall schedule: “Partners,” “Vegas” “Elementary” and “Made in Jersey.”
