Canuck programming exec Jake Labow has joined Brillstein Entertainment Partners as a manager.

The Toronto native will relocate to Los Angeles and focus on developing and signing new comedy talent for the management-production powerhouse. Labow comes to Brillstein from Bell Media, where he was a top production executive in the comedy department for the parent company of broadcaster CTV and cabler Comedy Network.

Brillstein Entertainment Partners CEO Jon Liebman told Variety that Labow “has a terrific eye for talent” and the skill-set to be a fit with the company’s dual focus on talent representation and production. Labow impressed Liebman and others at Brillstein in recent months when they worked with him on several projects.

“His comedy experience is first class,” Liebman said.

Labow’s recent producing credits include the CTV spesh “A Russell Peters Christmas” and Comedy Network’s sketch series “Picnicface.” Before joing Bell Media, Labow headed his own management-production shingle.
