Beyonce has been tapped to perform at the Pepsi-sponsored halftime show of Super Bowl XLVII on CBS.
The pop singer made her plans for Feb. 3, 2013, clear on her website prior to the NFL’s official announcement late Tuesday with an image of her face with the date of the big game stenciled into the eye black above her cheeks.
The 31-year-old pop star will take the stage of New Orleans’ Mercedes Benz Superdome for what is typically the highest rated night of TV each year. Nearly 113 million viewers tuned in 2012.
Last year’s halftime attraction was Madonna, which drew some controversy when another performer, M.I.A., was seen on camera extending her middle finger. Previous halftime show acts include Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Prince.
The halftime show will be produced by Ricky Kirshner and directed by Hamish Hamilton.
