Banff to bow co-production mart

Event will link up global TV execs

TORONTO — The Banff World Media Festival will launch an international TV co-production market this year, the organization announced Wednesday.

The mart will facilitate face-to-face meets between international content producers, broadcasters, funders and distributors who want to make or commission scripted TV, youth and animated programming, non-fiction and digital content.

It aims to connect execs from around the world with content producers to hone in what TV companies are looking for and examine the nuts and bolts of financing, deal structures and finding the right co-production and distribution partners for projects.

The Banff fest mart advisory board includes producer Fred Fuchs, Disney Channel’s Jonas Agin, Canada Media Fund CEO Valerie Creighton, CAA agent Kevin Cooper, Canadian Media Production Assn. prexy Norm Bolen, Shaw Media prexy Christine Shipton and Breakthrough Entertainment co-founder Ira Levy.

The Banff World Media Festival runs June 10 to 13.
