ABC developing Plan B supernatural drama

'Returned' from scribe Aaron Zelman hails from ABC Studios

ABC is taking another stab at developing a paranormal drama.

“The Returned,” from ABC Studios with Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Plan B, is a serialized drama that centers on a Midwestern town where the dead return to change the lives of those they left behind.

Aaron Zelman, whose credits include “The Killing” and “Damages,” will serve as scribe and exec producer on “Returned.” JoAnn Alfano and Jon Liebman will exec produce for Brillstein while Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner will exec produce for Plan B.

Development of “The Returned” comes as the typically film-focused Plan B begins to test the TV waters. In addition to “Returned,” shingle has drama project “Paper” in the works at HBO.

ABC struck out this season with its spooky drama “666 Park Avenue.” It recently tabled plans for a summer series, “Weird Desk,” based on two investigators probing cases with supernatural elements.
