Women's Impact Report 2012: Agents & Managers

In the ten years since helping launch Management 360, Bymel has seen it grow from a management company showcasing top-tier talent to a company that now features one of the most productive TV and film production shingles in town. HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Fox’s “Touch,” and Sony’s “Great Hope Springs” are just a couple of the successful projects Bymel and the company produced in the last year.

Inside trading: “Funny thing is I think everybody knows everything about our business already. Now more than ever the business part and day-to- day operations are as much exposed to the outside public as other aspects have been in the past. I will drop my car off to my valet and he is already congratulating me or consoling me depending on what he has heard about a particular project or box office numbers he read from this past weekend.”

Words of wisdom: “Start seeking out internships as soon as you are old enough to be considered, usually the first year of college. Strive to have a variety of different types of experiences that will give you a real view of what each job actually entails. Be proactive, ask questions, volunteer, forge relationships. This will greatly influence not only how you steer the course of your college education but ultimately add up on your resume and will help you land a job post college.”

Smartphone habits: “Yes. I find that people are taking more time out of the office than ever before but they are staying connected while they are on vacation by checking emails and surfing industry websites to stay abreast of what’s going on. The industry expects that you will not wholly disappear. It is very easy to become addicted to our mobile devices and get pulled into things that actually don’t need an immediate response. The burden is on each of us to make choices about what we are going to engage in and to figure out the way we mentally disconnect.”

Life-work balance: “I am a workaholic perfectionist but I think the key is only doing the things that only you can do, and that often is a guiding light to help me balance my day. Also it’s good to surround yourself with great people and don’t hold them back so that you can keep that balance.”

Charitable passions: “It’s hard to pick only one place where I want to put my philanthropic efforts. I grew up in a very socially conscious household with humanitarian parents who instilled in us a sense of responsibility about giving back to those less fortunate than ourselves. I am particularly drawn to international human-rights issues. I am passionate about the work that I have done with the Global Creative Forum, which is a group that supports the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. GCF was founded to explore ways in which the United Nations and the entertainment industry can join forces to raise awareness and mobilize the public around global humanitarian issues. I also put time and effort into the organizations that my clients are involved with. The first-hand experience educates me and allows me to better guide my clients. I have spent time working with the Nike Foundation’s Girl Effect, CARE and many of the clean water organizations like Charity Water on behalf of my clients. .”
