Wynn Las Vegas’ venues have pacted with top dance label Ultra Music to issue a series of compilation CDs and new releases featuring major EDM talent.
The Ultra-Wynn releases will be branded with the names of Wynn’s Sin City nightclub and day club venues, including Encore Beach Club, Surrender, Tryst and XS. The debut Encore Beach Club comp will be released digitally this month and feature music from resident Wynn DJs like Avicii, deadmau5 and Steve Aoki, mixed by DJ Sidney Samson.
Second collection focusing on the XS nightclub will be available Sept. 1.
Pact will also develop original video and audio content centered on Vegas’ EDM boom. Ultra’s YouTube channel will stream live venue-branded DJ sets, while a weekly “Wynn Nightlife Report” will offer DJ interviews and sets.
Deal mating two high-end players throws more light on Vegas’ ever-burgeoning status as an EDM mecca (Variety, April 5).
Insomniac Ventures’ dance mega-fest Electric Daisy Carnival just wrapped its three-day stay in the city (which hosted for a second consecutive year), while the Wynn hotel clubs have been drawing the genre’s biggest DJs for residencies.
Ultra has been among the largest dance imprints for more than a decade.
Ultra founder-president Patrick Moxey said in a statement, “With their impressive lineup of resident DJs and truly world-class venues, Wynn Las Vegas has become the center of dance music in America. This venture will bring the Wynn nightlife experience and EDM’s popularity into unprecedented new directions.”
