Killers and Werner Herzog team for Vevo concert

'Unstaged' webcast to originate Sept. 18 from NY's Paradise Theater

The Vevo/American Express Web concert series “Unstaged” has announced what may be its most unusual pairing of musical act and director yet: the Killers and Werner Herzog.

Webcast will air live from the Bronx’s Paradise Theater on Sept. 18, day-and-date with the release of the Las Vegas band’s Island Def Jam album “Battle Born.”

Since its debut in 2010, the “Unstaged” series has featured offbeat band-director pairings, including Arcade Fire with Terry Gilliam, Duran Duran with David Lynch, Jack White with Gary Oldham, and Spike Lee with John Legend and the Roots.

The September Web show will meld the glammy multi-platinum rock act with German director Herzog, known for such weighty fare as “Aguirre: The Wrath of God,” “Fitzcarraldo” and “Stroszek.” In recent years, Herzog has increasingly devoted himself to documentary work.

Killers lead singer Brandon Flowers said in a statement, “We’re so honored to work with Werner Herzog,” said Killers front man Brandon Flowers. “He’s made some legendary films and we can’t believe we got him to do this.”
