Grammy preservation event set for Feb. 9

Ceremony to feature Mavis Staples, Robert Cray, Jonny Lang

The Grammy Foundation’s annual Grammy Week preservation event at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on Feb. 9 will be devoted to the evolution of live concert performances, and will feature Grammy winners Robert Cray, Mavis Staples and Jonny Lang.

“One Night Only: A Celebration of the Live Music Experience” will also feature appearances by 2012 Grammy nominees Dave Koz and Ledisi, plus perfs by the Colburn Orchestra, A Fine Frenzy, Trombone Shorty and Tyrese.

Songwriter-producer Darrell Brown, a Recording Academy trustee and Grammy Foundation board member, will serve as the night’s musical director. Sharon Osbourne, wife and manager of Ozzy Osbourne, will host.

Grammy Foundation’s yearly show spotlights the charitable and educational arm’s year-round preservation activities, from grants to its Living Histories archive.
