ASCAP to honor Carly Simon

Singer to receive 2012 Founders Award

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has announced Carly Simon as the recipient of its 2012 Founders Award, to be presented at its 29th Pop Music Awards on April 18.

The awards gala will occur just prior to the start of the performance rights org’s “I Create Music” expo in Los Angeles. Last year’s Founders Award went to Rod Stewart, and previous recipients include Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell and Tom Waits.

Best known for her 1972 hit, “You’re So Vain,” Simon has collected two Grammys, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe over her multi-decade career.
