Jake Gyllenhaal didn’t just open a movie, “End of Watch,” last week. He also managed to open the Off Broadway play “If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet” at the Roundabout.

“We’ve definitely been getting it from all sides,” he said after Thursday’s opening-night perf.

Although “If There Is” is his Gotham stage debut, he’d previously starred in a West End production of “This Is Our Youth.” Seems there’s something about stage work that keeps bringing him back to the boards.

“It just feels like you have different animals inside you,” he said. “And this animal has the opportunity to run a marathon every night.”

Luckily for Gyllenhaal, he gets the least wet of the show’s four cast members in a staging that includes a surprising flood of water. Not so lucky is co-star Annie Funke, who spends a heck of a long time submerged in that water.

“It’s warm,” Funke said. “On good days.”
