Joely Richardson has signed on to join the Ethan Hawke-toplined production of Chekhov’s “Ivanov” at Off Broadway’s Classic Stage Company.
Richardson, who will play the wife of the title character portrayed by Hawke, joins a cast that already includes Glenn Fitzgerald, Juliet Rylance, Roberta Maxwell and Jonathan Marc Sherman. Austin Pentleton helms.
Richardson was recently seen Off Broadway in MCC Theater’s 2011 production of Michael Weller’s “Side Effects.” On the bigscreen she currently appears in “Thanks for Sharing,” bowing at the Toronto Film Festival.
CSC has recently programmed a string of starry productions of Chekhov plays, including last year’s much-lauded staging of “The Cherry Orchard” starring Dianne Wiest and John Turturro. The company’s current season will continue with a revival of Stephen Sondheim tuner “Passion.””Ivanov” begins previews Oct. 17 ahead of a Nov. 4 opening.
