Peter Dinklage will topline a brief stage run of Moliere’s “The Imaginary Invalid” this summer — and he’ll do it in a dress.
Presented as part of the annual Bard SummerScape programming at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., the all-male production of 1673 play “Imaginary Invalid” will see Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”) playing saucy maid Toinette in the story of a hypochondriac and the doctor who persists in treating his patient’s nonexistent maladies. Legit helmer Erica Schmidt, also Dinklage’s wife, directs.
Ethan Phillips (“Star Trek: Voyager”) stars as the central invalid, with Donnie Keshawarz, Danny Binstock, Henry Vick, Damian Young, Preston Sadleir and Zach Booth also in the cast.
Bard’s SummerScape offering is linked to the college’s music festival, which this year is focused on Camille Saint-Saens, the 19th century composer who proclaimed himself a fan of Moliere’s work.
Short run of “Invalid” will play for ten perfs July 13-22 at the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts on the Bard campus.
