Christopher Lloyd will star in the upcoming Off Broadway revival of “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” at Classic Stage Company.

Lloyd, whose most recent Broadway credit was “Morning’s at Seven” in 2002, will play the judge Azdak in Bertolt Brecht’s epic fairy tale about a peasant girl who rescues an abandoned baby. Directed by CSC a.d. Brian Kulick, production also features songs by Duncan Sheik (“Spring Awakening”) with lyrics by W.H. Aden and a script translated by James and Tania Stern.

CSC has attracted attention for a string of starry play revivals in recent seasons. Outings have included the Dianne Wiest and John Turturro toplined production of “The Cherry Orchard,” a production of “Three Sisters” starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, and the just-closed Ethan Hawke starrer “Ivanov.”

Further casting remains to be announced for “Chalk Circle,” which begins previews May 2. Prior to that, CSC will stage its revival of tuner “Passion,” starring Melissa Errico and Judy Kuhn in a production starting perfs in February.
