Peter Scolari, Christopher McDonald, Richard Masur, Stephen Tyrone Williams and Danny Mastrogiorgio are among the thesps lined up to appear alongside Tom Hanks in his upcoming Broadway debut in Nora Ephron’s “Lucky Guy.”
Williams, seen this year in Off Broadway plays “My Children! My Africa!” and “Harper Regan,” will play Abner Louima in the play about reporter Mike McAlary (Hanks), the Gotham journo whose career included coverage of the NYPD brutalization of Louima in 1997. Scolari, Masur and Mastrogiorgio — the last currently on Broadway in the much-lauded “Golden Boy” — play fellow journalist types, as do Peter Gerety and Michael Gaston. McDonald is onboard as Gotham lawyer Eddie Hayes, with Deirdre Lovejoy and Dustyn Gulledge also among the cast.
A few more actors remain to be set for the production, helmed by George C. Wolfe (“Angels in America,” “The Normal Heart”). Creative team for “Lucky Guy” will include David Rockwell (sets), Toni-Leslie James (costumes), Scott Lehrer (sound) and Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer (lights).
Show begins previews March 1 ahead of an April 1 opening at the Broadhurst Theater.
