Two players on the legit road scene, AVID Touring and AWA Touring, have merged to form a full-service booking agency now called AWA Partners.

AVID, led by L. Glenn Poppleton, brings over a roster of touring shows including “An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin,” “John Lithgow: Stories by Heart,” “Wishful Drinking” and “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” Poppleton amd AWA Touring’s current president Alison Spiriti will serve as the co-presidents of AWA Partners, while AVID’s operations manager Jessica Francis will occupy the same post in the new company.

AWA Touring is affiliated with Alan Wasser Associates, the general management company led by Wasser and Allan Williams, as well as marketing firm Type A. AWA Touring currently handles shows including “American Idiot,” “A Christmas Story” and “Grumpy Old Men.”

AWA’s Robin Mishik-Jett will continue as vice prexy while Sean Mackey will remain director of operations/business affairs. AVID staff will move to join AWA in that company’s current offices in midtown.

The merger pulls together the AWA road roster, which is largely focused on Broadway fare, with AVID’s lineup of concerts, variety shows, branded entertainment and arena offerings. “With so many booking agencies out there, it felt like a really good plan to bring our collective rosters together,” Spiriti said.
