Karen Allen will topline the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater’s Off Broadway staging of Jon Fosse’s play “A Summer Day.”
Allen (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”) made her Broadway bow in William Gibson’s 1982 play “The Monday after the Miracle.” Her most recent Off Broadway gig was the Roundabout Theater Company’s 2001 production of “Speaking in Tongues.”
She’ll play one of six roles in “Summer Day,” the 1999 play by Norwegian scribe Fosse. Storyline centers on a visit from an old friend that stirs up memories as well as a lingering mystery from the past. Further casting for the title’s American preem, translated and helmed by Sarah Cameron Sunde, remains to be set.
“Summer Day” is part of a Rattlestick season that kicks off in September with Adam Rapp’s “The Yellow Hour,” with “Summer Day” beginning previews Oct. 10 ahead of an Oct. 25 opening at the Cherry Lane Theater.
