Aasif Mandvi gets ‘Disgraced’

'Daily Show' regular to star in LCT3 show

“The Daily Show” correspondent Aasif Mandvi and New York legit regular Heidi Armbruster are among the thesps lined up to star in “Disgraced,” the next outing from Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT3 initiative.

Mandvi (“Ruby Sparks,” “Margin Call”) plays a Pakistani-American attorney who throw an unexpectedly tumultuous dinner party with his wife, played by Armbruster (“Title of Show”). Adam Dannheiser, Omar Maskati and Karen Pittman also appear in the play by Ayad Akhtar.

Gotham production is helmed by Kimberly Senior, who also directed the show’s preem in Chicago earlier this year. LCT3, the program focused on the work of emerging stage creatives, produces “Disgraced” by arrangement with the Araca Group, which hosted an earlier developmental reading of the show.

The recent LCT3 outing “4,000 Miles” proved successful enough that the production was upgraded to LCT’s larger Off Broadway space, where the show is currently playing. LCT3’s latest offering, the well-reviewed “Slowgirl,” wraps up its extended run Aug. 5.

“Disgraced” begins previews Oct. 7 prior to an Oct. 22 opening at the Claire Tow Theater, the newly completed venue on the Lincoln Center campus.
