‘9 to 5 — The Musical’ to receive U.K. preem

Tuner clocks in at Manchester Opera House

9 to 5 — The Musical,” written by Patricia Resnick with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and based on the movie directed by Colin Higgins, will receive its U.K. preem this fall at Manchester Opera House, ahead of a U.K. tour.

Produced by Howard Panter for Ambassador Theater Group and Bob Bartner, the production will be helmed by Jeff Calhoun, who directed the revised 2010/11 U.S. road production that followed the show’s 148-perf Gotham run in 2009, helmed by Joe Mantello.

Opening in Manchester (Oct. 12-20), the show will play week-long engagements in Wimbledon, Sunderland, Woking, Glasgow, Stoke, Edinburgh, Oxford and Brighton, and a three-week sit-down in Birmingham over the holiday season. Producers are eyeing a 2013 West End berth.

Casting and full U.K. creative team have yet to be announced.
