WWE’s Mike “The Miz” Mizanin will star in “The Marine: Homefront,” a direct-to-homevid actioner from WWE Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment that “The Condemned”-helmer Scott Wiper will direct.
Film is the third installment in “The Marine” franchise, and marks Mizanin’s first starring role in a feature. John Cena and Ted Dibiase Jr. starred in the previous “Marine” installments.
In the thriller, a Marine must do whatever it takes to save his kidnapped niece and stop a terrorist attack masterminded by a radical militia group.
Wiper also co-wrote the script with John Petro for Summit and Intrepid’s “The Cold Light of Day,” that stars Henry Cavill, Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. Pic bows Sept. 7.
Production on “Homefront” starts June 11 in Vancouver.
WWE’s Randy Orton had previously been tapped to star in the actioner, but was recast because he was dishonorably discharched from the United States Marine Corps, which was considered inappropriate for the production.
