William and Kate set for ‘Hobbit’ fundraiser

Couple will attend Royal Film Performance in London

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to attend the Royal Film Performance of Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” hosted by the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on Dec. 12.

The Royal Film Performance, the main fundraiser for the CTBF, is the royal couple’s first appearance at the event since their wedding. William and Kate will have the opportunity to meet with beneficiaries of the charity and the cast and crew of the movie before the screening. The event, in the past, has hosted Her Majesty the Queen on numerous occasions.

Money raised from the event will go to help film and TV industry employees in times of hardship.

“The Hobbit” opens in theaters on Dec. 13.
