Wild Bunch inks deal with Twisted Pictures

Duo make three-year pact

Pan-European sales and distribution group Wild Bunch has inked a three-year output deal with Mark Burg’s Twisted Pictures, the label behind the “Saw” horror franchise.

Twisted Pictures expects to produce two pics in the first year under the deal, and one to two films each year thereafter. Wild Bunch will acquire and handle international sales rights.

Twisted Pictures is Evolution’s genre arm, where Burg and prexy Michael Benchel will continue to spearhead the development and production team.

Shingle “creates genre pictures with compelling storylines and a quality approach that rises above the crowd,” said Wild Bunch CEO Vincent Grimond.

Burg said, “From ‘Sin City’ to ‘Paranormal Activity’ to ‘Insidious,’ Wild Bunch’s range of movie picks has been on the leading edge of what young audiences are craving.”

Deal was arranged by Menchel and Continental Entertainment Capital’s Benjamin Waisbren. Burg, Menchel and Waisbren will serve as producers at Twisted Pictures.

Burg founded Evolution in the late 1990s with Oren Koules and launched Twisted Pictures in 2004 with Koules and the late Gregg Hoffman. Burg split from Koules in June and rejigged the shingle, appointing former CAA agent Menchel as prexy.
