Well Go USA and Pelican House Prods. have set an Aug. 24 domestic release date for Tom Morris’ comedy “General Education” in association with Greenhouse Studios.

The film was produced by Morris, Elliot Feld, Jaz Kalkat and Kevin Liang for Pelican House Prods. and stars Chris Sheffield, Janeane Garofalo, Larry Miller and Maiara Walsh. Kevin Matusow is the exec producer.

PHP Films, a subsidiary of Pelican House, will release the film in 10 markets including New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Columbus and Dallas. Well Go USA will launch a simultaneous VOD release on internet and cable.

Story centers on a student who’s set to go to the local university on a tennis scholarship –but forgets to tell his parents that he didn’t graduate. As a result, he must take summer school before his mom and dad discover he’s failed senior science.

The film was shot on location in Chico and Gridley, Calif. Pic also stars Elaine Hendrix, Bobby Campo, McKaley Miller and Mercedes Masohn.

The producers are represented by Nate Bolotin at XYZ Films. The deal between Well Go USA and Pelican House was negotiated by Well Go USA’s Doris Pfardrescher.
