The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles has selected Wayne Watkins as its first director of sponsorship development as part of the org’s expansion of operations in its 25th anniversary year.

Watkins’ responsibilities will include identifying and securing additional corporate and event sponsors and expanding partner activation plans. BAFTA/LA hosts tea parties held prior to the Primetime Emmys and the Golden Globes along with the Britannia Awards.

Watkins will report to exec director and chief operating officer Donald Haber and work with the board of directors to ensure the org has financial support to enhance educational and outreach programs such as Heritage Archives, the Inner City Shakespeare Project, BAFTA/LA Student Short Film Awards, and the Inner City Screening Program.

For the past five years, Watkins’ marketing firm Dirigible has specialized in working with small to mid-size non-profits in their development of marketing and sponsorship strategies, working specifically in entertainment and performing arts. He previously served as national director of catalog and strategic marketing for Capitol Records.
