“Harry Potter” director David Yates has signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. under the Wychwood Picture Co. banner.
Key project under the deal for Yates as a Warner-based producer is expected to be an adaptation of Emma Forrest’s memoir “Your Voice in My Head.” Yates signed to direct the project late last year for London-based Ruby Films. Since then, Warners has since come on to finance and Emma Watson and Stanley Tucci are attached to star.
Forrest is writing the screenplay, which explores the personal crisis she faced when an all-consuming romance fell apart and her psychiatrist died. “Voice” has been developed with funding from the British Film Institute’s Film Fund.
Yates directed the last four “Potter” pics for Warner Bros.
Warner has about three dozen first-look deals, including David Heyman, who produced all eight “Potter” films, and Lionel Wigram, a former Warners exec who oversaw the “Potter” pics.
