Universal taps writer for ‘Prosthesis’

Scott M. Gimple to pen sci-fier for studio

Universal is moving ahead on sci-fier “Prosthesis,” tapping “Walking Dead” writer-producer Scott M. Gimple to pen the script.

Studio set up “Prosthesis” in January with the Gotham Group and 1stAveMachine producing and Arvind Palep directing (Daily Variety, Jan. 28). U acquired “Prosthesis” after execs saw Palep’s 10-minute teaser presentation blending vfx with storyboards and live-action footage.

Palep co-created multimedia production banner 1stAveMachine with Serge Patzak, who will produce the film with Gotham Group topper Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson. Peter McHugh and Sam Penfield exec produce.

Details of the world Palep has created for “Prosthesis” are being kept under wraps.

Gimple was co-writer with David S. Goyer and Seth Hoffman on “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” and worked with Goyer on his “Da Vinci’s Demons” series on Starz. He is repped by UTA and Thruline Entertainment.
