Tyler Perry is on the calendar for two more films for Lionsgate, including the multihyphenate’s first Christmas film dated for a Dec. 13, 2013, bow.
Perry will write, direct and produce the untitled Christmas-themed comedy. He’ll serve the same duties for “Tyler Perry’s Single Moms Club,” which Lionsgate dated for May 9, 2014.
“Single Moms Club,” which centers on a group of single mothers who create a support group, is also produced by Ozzie Areu and Matt Moore. The dramedy currently has the May date to itself, though Sony’s “Amazing Spider-Man” sequel kicks off the 2014 summer season the weekend before.
The date for Perry’s Christmas pic positions the film to play through the holiday; Warner Bros.-New Line launches “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” the same day, however.
In other dating news, Universal set a Jan. 17, 2014, launch for Kevin Hart-Ice Cube comedy “Ride Along” — the follow-up for “Think Like a Man” director Tim Story.
