‘Turkeys’ sales cooking for Relativity

Multiple territories buy toon at AFM

Relativity Media has sold mutiple territories for its animated comedy “Turkeys” at AFM, two weeks after announcing that it had come on board to finance and produce with Reel FX.

Turkeys” sold to Noori for South Korea, Tomson for Hong Kong, Lusomundo for Portugal, PT Amero for Indonesia, Tanweer for India, Nusantara for Malaysia and Multivision for the Philippines. It’s the first toon that Relativity has brought to AFM.

Relativity also sold “Safe Haven” to Mars Entertainment for South Korea and “21 and Over” to Presidio for Japan.

Relativity will distribute “Turkeys” domestically, while output partners in countries including China, England and Australia will unspool the pic internationally.

Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson star as the lead voice talents in the film, which Relativity has slated for a 2014 release. Jimmy Hayward will direct and “Clerks” producer Scott Mosier will produce.

Craig Mazin, John Strauss and David I. Stern penned the script, which centers on two rival turkeys who team up to travel back in time to change history and get themselves off people’s menus.
