Give a kid a rainbow wig as a carnival prize and you know what happens next.

Fuzzy, multihued heads were bopping all around the Spring Break carnival fundraiser, staged Saturday night on the Sony Pictures lot to benefit nonprofit mentoring org City Year. The fun was hands-on as guests moved from booth to booth playing “Madagascar 3”-themed game of Whack-a-Mort (where the rainbow wigs were dispensed) to a Food Network-hosted cookie decorating stand to CG photo ops with DC Comics’ Justice League and the tartan-clad archer of Pixar’s “Brave.” Also popular were the Microsoft Kinect vidgame lounge, the shoot-to-win hoops stand hosted by J Brand jeans and the NFL’s football toss.

DreamWorks’ Stacey Snider, a City Year board member, thanked her industry friends for turning out in force and raising more than $1.2 million for the org that pairs middle-school students at risk of dropping out of school with young mentors for a year.
