Sony celebrated the preem of Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” Aug. 1 at the Chinese, followed by a poolside afterparty at the Roosevelt.

“I love the original, so I was skeptical when I heard they were going to remake this, but it felt so significantly different to me that it warranted it,” said Colin Farrell, who spends much of the film being chased by Kate Beckinsale.

“Look, there certainly was an effort to try to pay attention to the more dramatic elements of each character’s individual journey through the story, though the concept is kind of the star itself,” Farrell added.

Budgeted at $125 million, the futuristic sci-fi pic features spectacle-filled action sequences. “Len is an amazing shooter, and I admire how he’s able to do a lot with not that much,” said producer Neal H. Moritz. “The world he created is incredible, and its texture feels real. The idea of vertical cities is really genius.”
