Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has upped Jason Spivak to executive VP of worldwide digital distribution.

Spivak will continue to lead the team that oversees SPHE’s digital sales around the world. He reports to Jim Underwood, executive VP, worldwide digital and commercial strategy.

“Jason has overseen tremendous growth in our digital transactional business,” Underwood said. “This has been done, in large part, by his forging strong partnerships with our customers and working with them to innovate and drive increased business in this area, especially through the ongoing rollout of UltraViolet and cloud storage systems as well as the introduction of new and emerging business models that are critical to insuring ongoing, intelligently managed growth for our home entertainment business.”

Spivak is a veteran of the homevid industry, having served as SPHE’s senior VP and general manager, worldwide digital distribution and, senior VP, strategic development, before that.

He also spent eight years at MGM Home Entertainment, leading the studio’s early digital distribution efforts from Los Angeles and London.
