Screen Media Films has acquired U.S. theatrical rights to Jamie Kastner’s documentary “Secret Disco Revolution” from Entertainment One Films Intl. (eOne).

Screen Media is planning domestic theatrical run in June.

This deal follows eOne’s sales of the film to Japan’s Kadokawa, CIS’ Maywin and Italy’s Sky Arts. Kastner, who produced, directed and wrote the film, handled the sales to ZDF Arte for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France.

“Revolution” focuses on the mass liberation of gays, blacks and women during the era and features interviews with Gloria Gaynor, Thelma Huston and the Village People — along with such songs as “Boogie Fever,” “Macho Man,” “Respect,” “I Will Survive,” “Ladies Night” and “It’s Raining Men.”

The deal was negotiated by Suzanne Blech from Screen Media and Charlotte Mickie from eOne, along with Andrew Herwitz from the Film Sales Co. on behalf of the filmmakers.
