Screamfest kicks off with ‘Collection’

Fest runs Oct. 12 - 21

Halloween-related festivities continue in H’wood as the annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival kicked off in downtown Los Angeles at the Regal Cinemas with a screening of “The Collection.”

Following a Q&A with the cast and crew of the slasher pic, the fest took the party to the Figeroa Hotel for the opening night gala. “Collection” star Josh Stewart, helmer Marcus Dunstan, as well as “Paranormal Activity” helmer Oren Peli, attended the spooky gathering.

The Collection is really fun. And this year, we are also honoring John Carpenter. We open with the new, and close with the classics,” said fest founder Rachel Belofsky.

We watched this grow over the years so something quite large. We are known for discovering ‘Paranormal Activity.’ So each year, we try to top that and find the next big thing.”

Screamfest runs from Oct. 12 – 21.
