Oscilloscope Labs nabs doc ‘Samsara’

Feature from Mark Magidson, Ron Frick preemed at Toronto

Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired U.S. rights to the documentary “Samsara,” the third feature from filmmakers Mark Magidson and Ron Fricke.

The distrib said “Samsara,” which had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September, will be released in theaters nationally this summer.

Fricke and Magidson, who previously collaborated on “Baraka” and “Kronos,” shot “Samsara” over more than four years in 25 countries on five continents in 65mm cinematography. It’s devoted to the varied worlds of sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial complexes and natural wonders.

The film has no dialogue or descriptive text and takes its name from the Sanskrit word for “the ever turning wheel of life.”
