Sequel to 2010’s “Machete” is the second pic in a planned trilogy. Fox released the original, which grossed $26 million domestically.
Pic stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Charlie Sheen, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir and Mel Gibson.
Producers inlcude Rodriguez; Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic through their QuickDraw Prods. banner; Sergei Bespalov of Aldamisa Films; Alexander Rodnyansky of AR Films; and Rick Schwartz of Overnight Films.
Trejo reprises the title character, recruited by the President of the United States to take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer with a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
The deal was negotiated on behalf of Open Road Films by Tom Ortenberg, Elliott Kleinberg and Ben Cotner. Jere Hausfater and Mark Manuel negotiated on behalf of Aldamisa, along with Graham Taylor and WME Global, who repped the film.
