LONDON — New U.K. production company Mirror Image launched Thursday with the announcement of its first feature “It’s a Lot.”

Mirror Image is a joint venture between Kaleidoscope Film Distribution, Scanner-Rhodes Prods. and accountants Graham Associates, specialists in creating tax efficient structures for investors in film and television.

The company will take advantage of the tax incentive Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS), which launched in April. It offers investors the chance to invent up to £100,000 ($157,000) in a single tax year, receiving a 50% tax relief.

“In difficult economic times, the SEIS is a perfect opportunity to build a strong business model for high-concept low-budget films,” said Dean Fisher, managing director of Scanner-Rhodes.

The company will produce three to four $314,000 budget films per year, each guaranteed U.K. theatrical release, and multi-platform international distribution and sales through Kaleidoscope.

“It’s a Lot” is an urban comedy written by actor Femi Oyeniran and Nick Walker, and produced by Dean Fisher, shooting from late September.
