Mackie mulls Falcon in ‘Captain America’

Sebastian Stan set to return as Bucky

Marvel is starting to recruit thesps to join Chris Evans in “Captain America: The Winter Solider,” with Anthony Mackie in talks to play Falcon. Sebastian Stan will reprise his role as Bucky, who turns into Winter Soldier, a brainwashed assassin.

Joe and Anthony Russo will helm the film, set for release April 4, 2014.

The Falcon is one of Marvel Comics’ first African American superheroes — a Harlem-based character who can speak to birds telepathically and fly using his suit. In the comicbooks, he once served as Captain America’s crime-fighting partner.

Mackie, currently lensing “Runner, Runner,” can be seen in Fox’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” and co-stars in Warner Bros.’ “Gangster Squad” and Michael Bay’s comedy “Pain and Gain,” opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mark Wahlberg.

Stan, who has a six-pic deal with Marvel, stars in horror pic “The Apparition,” which WB releases next month. Todd Lincoln directed the pic, produced by Joel Silver, Andrew Rona, Alex Heineman and Daniel Alter.

Marvel and Mackie’s reps declined to comment.
