Helena Bonham Carter is to be feted with the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film at the 33rd London’s Critics’ Circle Film Awards on Jan. 20.
Bonham Carter said, “It’s always nice when critics say something nice about you for a change, and especially the critics in your hometown.”
Bonham Carter is presently onscreen as Miss Haversham in Mike Newell’s “Great Expectations” and also features in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of “Les Miserables.” She will be seen next year in Gore Verbinski’s “The Lone Ranger” and Jean Pierre Jeunet’s “The Young and Prodigious Spivet.”
Earlier this year she received a fellowship from the British Film Institute.
Previous recipients of the Dilys Powell Award include Richard Attenborough, Dirk Bogarde, Judi Dench, Kristin Scott Thomas, Nicolas Roeg and Quentin Tarantino.
