Lionsgate has expanded its partnership with IDC — which has been distributing Summit titles in Latin America since 2005 — to include distribution of Lionsgate titles in Latin America, Lionsgate announced Monday.
It’s the latest in a series of renewed and expanded international output deals by the mini-major. IDC is a joint venture of Summit and NuVision founder Pedro Rodriguez.
Lionsgate motion picture group co-chairs Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman said in a statement, “IDC’s results for our Summit titles in the past have been outstanding and the quality of its distribution first class. By adding our own Lionsgate films and expanding our partnership with IDC, we believe that we can replicate the success we have achieved through self-distribution in the United Kingdom.”
Under the new agreement, Lionsgate Intl. Television will handle the sale of TV, SVOD, VOD and EST rights to Lionsgate, Summit and third-party product throughout Latin America.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer announced Sept. 11 that the company, which acquired Summit in January, would be renewing and revising output deals and has since signed such agreements with Studiocanal for Germany and Austria, Alliance Films in Spain and Roadshow Films in Australia.
The IDC deal was negotiated by Lionsgate’s Brian Goldsmith, Maitreya Yasuda and Ryan Likes.
