Legendary Pictures has acquired Martin Helgeland’s spec script “Slayer,” a modern-day action film about a young doctor who discovers he’s the last in a long line of dragonslayers after his estranged father dies.
Alex Garcia and Alex Hedlund will oversee the fantasy pic for Legendary. Project will fall under Legendary’s overall agreement with Warner Bros.
Legendary is currently producing writer-director Brian Helgeland’s Jackie Robinson biopic “42,” as well as Sergei Bodrov’s Jeff Bridges-starrer “Seventh Son.” Company’s upcoming releases include “Wrath of the Titans,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Man of Steel,” “Pacific Rim” and “Jack the Giant Killer.”
Martin Helgeland currently attends Loyola Marymount U. and “Slayer” is his first script. Scribe is repped by WME.
