Fox Searchlight distributing untitled comedy

Catherine Keener, Toni Collette, Ben Falcone and Eve Hewson have joined the cast of Nicole Holofcener’s untitled Fox Searchlight comedy, which started production in Los Angeles on Monday.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as a divorced soon-to-be empty-nester who meets a woman (Keener) she views as the embodiment of her perfect self. Armed with a restored outlook on being middle-aged and single, protag decides to take a chance on her new love interest (James Gandolfini), but things get complicated when she discovers he’s her new friend’s ex-husband.

Tracey Fairaway co-stars as Louis-Dreyfus’ daughter, while fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson will make her film debut as her best friend, who doesn’t have a great relationship with her own mother.

Collette will play Louis-Dreyfus’ friend who also happens to be Keener’s therapist. Hewson (“This Must Be the Place”) will play Keener and Gandolfini’s college-bound daughter.

Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman is producing the pic, having previously produced Holofcener’s 2010 comedy “Please Give,” which starred Keener.

Fox Searchlight senior VP of production Matthew Greenfield and creative exec Erin Hagerty will oversee the project for the studio, which will release the film worldwide.

“We have always admired Nicole for her unique voice and storytelling abilities. or this film she has again delivered a distinctive and relatable script that this talented group of actors can really bring to life,” said production prexy Claudia Lewis.

“The folks at Fox Searchlight have wanted to work with Nicole for years and she came up with this funny, heartbreaking story about people trying to live with and without each other,” added Bregman.
