Josh Brolin is in talks to star in the Sean Penn-helmed “Crazy for the Storm” at Warner Bros.
Both Brolin and Penn’s deals need to be worked out, but the plan is to shoot the pic in the first quarter of 2013.
Will Fetters did the script adaptation from Norman Ollestad’s memoir, which centers on how the skills Ollestad’s father instilled in him as a boy helped him survive after a plane crash stranded him alone on a mountaintop when he was 11. Brolin would play Ollestad’s dad.
Bill Gerber will produce through his Gerber Pictures banner along with Fonda Snyder and Rob Weisbach.
There was talk early on of Penn also starring but sources say that Penn is opting to focus on helming, as he did with “Into the Wild.”
The CAA-repped Brolin just finished production on Paramount’s “Labor Day” and WB’s “Gangster Squad” and is set to star in Spike Lee’s “Oldboy” later this fall.
