Jordi Molla in talks for ‘Riddick’

Thesp would join Diesel in Twohy pic

After coming close to nabbing the coveted villain role in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek 2,” Spanish thesp Jordi Molla is taking his sinister sneer to another sci-fi franchise, as he’s in negotiations to play the villain opposite Vin Diesel in David Twohy’s “Riddick.”

Molla is in talks to play Santana, a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick.

Production on the second “Pitch Black” sequel recently resumed after a two-month hiatus while the producers finalized financing. 2004’s “The Chronicles of Riddick” grossed more than $115 million worldwide, indicating there’s still plenty of interest in another sequel, with this one being made for a price.

Molla most recently starred opposite Zoe Saldana as the villain in “Colombiana.” In addition to co-starring alongside Johnny Depp in “Blow,” Molla has also matched wits against two of the biggest movie stars in the world — Will Smith and Tom Cruise — as the villain in “Bad Boys II” and “Knight and Day.”

Molla is repped by Paradigm and Artists Independent Management.

Locarno in Los Angeles Film Review: 'Fausto'

In more ways than one, “Fausto” is a film that likes to keep its audience in the dark: The bulk of its imagery is thickly cloaked in velvety night, often barely illuminated but for pinpricks of moonlight or a flickering candle, sometimes to the point where viewers must strain and squint to identify what they’re [...]

In fact, sometimes it’s the movies that aren’t making a self-important Oscar push that wind up hitting closest to [...]
